Battle
My heart beats fast and heavy
it is slowing
pushing the blood out of the wound
the slash across my chest is burning
laced with poison i suspect
I can't die, not yet
I am a guardian of many innocents
letting them down is impossible
the bleeding slows
as the wound starts to heal
I fade hearing a loud buzzing
opening my eyes I find my room
i let my hand shut off the alarm
a pain across my chest
i look down, a fresh cut i see
th price of battle I must pay
I hold my head high
knowing I have lived through another night
