And here I lie...
Carrie lies there in the rain.
As love and joy wash over her.
The floods of true experience
And drops of life passed in a blur.
Carrie lies there in the rain.
Carrie closes her tired eyes.
As hope and faith wash over her.
The colours of a fading rainbow
Tear the wounds of a deep demur.
Carrie closes her tired eyes.
Carrie listens to the fading sounds.
As trust and conviction wash over her.
The echo of a tired life
Crush the pain she cannot conquer.
Carrie listens to the fading sounds.
Carrie feels the warming sun
As dependence and strength wash over her.
And the rays gently caress her skin
Causing heartache within to stir.
Carrie feels the warming sun.
And as I roll into my dreams
I see a life passed in a flash
And I pray to God not yet, not now
As I drift into my final cache
Of memories too hard to grieve
Of goodbyes to hard to say
Of a life I’m not ready to leave
Of my final, dying day
And here I lie in the falling rain.
As peace and freedom wash over me.
Each drop that falls I seem to catch
Preparing me to leave.
And here I lie in the falling rain
My last breath used to say…
'I knew I could change this world one day'
