The Canvas of Life
Life's like a canvas;
Each one is unique, no two are the same
Some about flowers in a boutique,
Others about tricks and games
Life's like a canvas;
Each one is special, no two are dim
Some about doves in nestles,
Others about dark days at inns
Life is someone's canvas
With frames of wood and threads of cotton,
Some colors remembered while others forgotten,
Life's a canvas;
It starts our fresh and white
Awaiting a whole new light
It starts out as an empty situation
Awaiting a creation,
One to find their true passion
Life's a canvas;
A magical place filled with color
That brightens up a place once duller
Perhaps, ribbons of auburn and gold
Or splotches of black and grey mold
Life's a canvas;
Some strokes are rough, some smooth enough,
Some worth removing, others simply mind-blowing
Twists, curls, skies and seas
everything we imagine we can see
Patience it takes to achieve something great
the final masterpiece a mystery we await
Life's a Canvas;
A place for ideas to canvass
Special to the one, A path to guide that someone
One is the creator, Other the painter
And all the pleasure and strife
Is a work of The Canvas of Life

This was one of my 1st pieces of poetry and I really enjoyed writing it. I have used the metaphor of a painting canvass and compared it to life. I feel we all are artists and every choice we take, every action we do is just like painting a new stroke on to a canvass. We are the masters of our own destiny and even though some colors may be dull and some strokes may look out of place, it is all a part of our life's imperfectly perfect canvas.
