Moving
Ever since birth, I have always been
moving forward
First cries, first lies,
First hellos, first goodbyes
Everything is a first, but only if you keep
moving forward
Keep going, keep pushing,
Keep growing, keep blushing
The color in your cheeks means you’re alive.
First smiles are met with seconds of laughter,
First hellos are thrown away soon thereafter,
Not everything is always
alive
Even if you are moving forward,
memories start to wash away,
Going with the tide.
Grandparents, goldfish,
Flowers, friends,
A life left in the dust
for the chance of something new
If the world is there to be explored,
there’s no choice but to continue-
moving forward.
It may take
Hours, minutes,
days, months,
Seconds, years,
for another “first” to cross your path:
Even so,
You must do more than-
watch your bouquet thrive-
embrace every part,
So that everything you have grown is loved,
leaving more to be explored.
And only through more “firsts”
will the flowers grow through their pots,
Spread across the garden,
Break the ground,
And pursue the task
of
moving forward.
