Still I try (INSPIRED BY THE
Inspired by the “Still I Rise” poem by maya Angelou
You may challenge me
With your enraged words,
You may induce some sorrowful cries
But still, like a bird awaiting a turn to fly, I'll try.
Does my quickening thinking insult you?
Why are you so set with those angered eyes?
’Cause I seem like I’ve got gears
Spinning quick in my swift mind.
Just like Hawks and like Owls,
With the infinity of their skies,
Just like Hummingbirds gliding fast,
Still I'll try.
Did you want to see me crumble?
Defeated face and terrified eyes?
Sinking head like a boat in angered tides,
Face stained by my weeping sighs?
You may slash me with your turn of phrase,
You may ruin me with your spiteful ways,
You may destroy me with your vindictive plans.
But still, like water pushing hard, I’ll try.
Out of the forest of hope and faith
I try
Up from the waves and tides of freedom
I try
I'm a Moon, impressive and Astute,
I impress and amaze as I glow everbright.
Leaving behind the feeling of despair
I try
Into the shining milky way that shines amazingly bright
I try
Bringing the planets their stratosphere,
I am the Sun and the stars of the galaxy.
I try
I’ll try
I will try.

I am currently a student in Carusi Middle School. I like writing, reading and drawing. This poem is similar to Maya Angelou's in ways of rhyming. I named it "Still I Try" because everyday I try to do things and I see others around me trying as well so I was inspired by them and "Still I Rise" poem to create this.
