Inevitable
Time
There's nothing
you can do to change it
No amount of longing
can bring it back
or speed it up
Helplessly
We must sit back
and watch
As hours turn to minutes
minutes to hours
and hours to days
Years
Pass in time
That feels like only a week
Sometimes
you lose track
or even attention
But whether you count,
or not
it's always
Ticking furiously,
endlessly
no arythmia to confuse it
Life's predator,
it stalks
and numbers...
and kills
and yet,
still is not satisfied
unstoppable
stealthy,
and dangerous
it has no weakness
not even predictability
gives us leverage.
On New Year's,
we celebrate it,
glorify it...
even anticipate.
Forget
what it is
Tick-Tock
a ravenous monster
with a call
That haunts your sleep
Tick Tick Tick Tick
in rythm with your heart
Befriending it
until it wins the battle
as always
It knows when your time
is up
awake or not
in a...
nightmare
or or daydream
or when your wide awake
it will strike
it will kill
Time...
Up.
