Hot Red Roof

The leaves drop
Slowing to break their fall
As they near the hot red roof
Steaming like the side of a teapot
Doused in chilly water
Brittle, they crack
As they hit the surface
Tossed by the wind
Rolling on the tendrils
Coasting
As they near a new destination
Breaking during their travels
Fragments turning gradually
To dust.
