Girl on the Roof

She sits on the roof, felling small, and anxious.
On the edge, she gazes at the sky.
Wishing she was somewhere else.
Lights flash on the street, and she doesn’t see.
Sounds of cars and yelling all fade into the background.
The girl, a person always determined to appease, closes her eyes.
She strives to relax the tension in her body.
Swinging her legs, she tried to find peace.
Quietly she hums a song.
She crawls inside. Then sleeps soundly
