Cool Morning on a Lake
A cool morning breeze blows over the lake.
The lake’s water is a nice dark blue colour.
The water glistens with the light of the sun on the horizon.
The rising sun is a warm orange colour.
The birds are singing on this early morning.
The sky fills up with more light as the sun rises,
And not long after that, the land is filled with light as well.
The suns colour changes from orange to a bright yellow.
The cool breeze gets a little warmer,
And the day begins.

I wrote this Image Poem to describe what it’s like watching the sunrise over Lake Michigan. I lived in Wisconsin for 4 years from when I was 7 to 12. I lived in a town called Grafton, and it was a short drive from there to a beach in another town called Port Washington. My family would often go there over the summer and fall. In the poem, I wanted to describe the tides however I felt like this would confuse the readers who don’t know that Lake Michigan has tides due to its size.
