Poverty
We all sit here like kings,
while others are viewed as “things”.
All they have are a few pennies,
while others are dropping twenties.
Food is to life as a key is to a lock.
Without food, how does one survive?
One meal may seem like no deal,
but to one in the street, it’s finally time to eat.
All they have are the clothes on their back,
don't they deserve at least to live in a shack?
Without a shelter,
one will never feel the love and warmth from a home.
The bitter frosty wind dances on their fragile cold skin,
absorbing all their bodies’ heat.
If we don’t end this predicament,
all that will be left is to repent.
Donating a bill, may save a crying child’s shrill.
This problem is a mountain; once the peak is reached, nothing is left.
Drop in a few coins from your purse,
and you will soon end the poverty curse!
