Then and Now
Soft brown hair
blue-ish eyes
freckled nose
are who I was when I was little
Tag outside,
in field of mud
before the shiny new playground
That was my past.
Now I'm taller
A clearer thinker
A gossiper
with dyed hair,
that's reddish-purple
eyes
that have transformed into hazel
and freckles
covered by a fake skin,
called foundation.
"I love you mommy and daddy"
is what I used to say
Now an I roll is sufficient
As i walk by and shutter,
with inferiority coursing through me
Hatred?
Never.
I am in turmoil with myself
I am all smiles,
all darkness,
all the same, I am optimism
all I can be
all I choose to put forth
everything anyone thinks I'm not
Sharp, translucent eyes
that reveal your story
and unwillingly tell mine.
I am myself
But myself
has changed so much
Who's to say,
I cannot change further?
Like a relentless wind,
I am change
