Never Let Go
The little time we have,
Slips away from us,
Day by day,
Like drops of water through open fingers.
The carelessness of youth,
Is followed by the awkwardness of adolescence,
Until all that is left to us,
Is the sickening twinge of regret.
It can be felt at the sight,
Of a sunny couple walking by,
Or a boisterous group of friends,
Laughing and carousing with ease.
The cycle is doomed to be repeated,
By the generations to come,
Unless we make the decision,
To grasp the dregs of precious life in our hands…
And never let go.
