Cutting the Madness
Wisps of dreamy images,
Swirled together,
In a vat of uncertainty,
Is my mind today.
Jumping,
Shouting,
Spinning,
Swashbuckling,
Clambering,
Taking,
Telling,
Teaching,
Hating,
Loving,
Lying,
Lingering…
Jumping on the trampoline,
Shouting at the world,
Spinning in the backyard,
Swashbuckling pirates are our portrait of freedom.
Clambering up the stairs,
Taking the time to think,
Telling ourselves it’ll be OK,
Teaching ourselves how to live.
Hating how they look at us,
Loving how we feel,
Lying about what we do,
Lingering hope that the thrill will last…
But it never does.
