Night or Day
Drink in the night
As it lays its velvet cloth
Atop this side of world;
An inky sphere.
Descend into its fold,
Try it on for size.
The night seeks to comfort
Your fears so exposed in the day.
Dream your twilight visions
Which bring such clarity
To life and love,
As you lay your weary head
On pillows made of the dark,
Intertwining fibers
Of nighttime.
Dip your toes in pools
Of silky blackness,
Which sparkle by day
And sheen metallic by night.
Decide where it is
You would rather live:
In the sun-soaked, golden world
Of the day,
Or the inky black dreamscape
Of the night.
