Grandma's Way
Righteous eyes are distant now and I wonder why I cry
I guess because this may be the last time I say, “Good bye”
Sixteen years in the making, love a tree’s roots deep
The tears relentlessly run down my moistened cheek
Each word you utter comes from your swollen, joyous heart
I sometimes ponder how my mom allowed you to depart
She always tells of times as children they would laugh
Deep in thought she would say, “It all went by too fast”
Four siblings’ love and candid photos tells a mother’s dream
To raise her children, to grow up, always with a smile’s beam.
