Silent Coward
Do you want me dead?
It feels as if every time I pass
You dread the thought of my sight
Does my soul fill your blood with fright?
What is it about me that you hate?
You coward, I constantly feel you next to me
Sitting on the couch glaring
There is no ambiance, but that of the fireplace
I sit crying, wondering what you desire
My soul has gone into your slow death
You coward, do you want me dead?
To be with you? Clueless I watch
The candle’s wax drip, drip, drip on the brass
And yet your eyes are never misplaced,
As if you died with the intention of my misery.
The dull, red carpet and mahogany walls
Captivate your presence, and restrict my heart
From its every beat.
This must come to an end you coward, talk!
My eyes close, slowly. Tired, my pillow engulfs in flames
As the fire surrounds me, the wood is my sword
And fire my shield. The heat refuses to yield.
And my skin turns to ashes.
And my bones turn to ashes.
And my soul turns to ashes.
And your goal is fulfilled, while my ashes settle.
I awake to hear the tea kettle whistling.
I sit down at the table as you pour my tea.
