Winter Awakening
March 16, 2019
The setting sun
sends a soft glow
of ginger and saffron
across the vast ocean
and hills of sparkling snow.
Twilight opens her eyes,
the sun yawns
and the stars illuminate the skies
as the lone wolf cries,
waiting for the day’s new dawn.
Winter paints her frost
on the bare, bony branches
the soul is trampled and tossed,
in this moment, summer is lost
a small flicker of hope dances.
The streams flow onward to the sea,
winding their journey through time
with endless mystery
never ceasing to be free,
simple treasures sublime.
