The False Consensus Effect: I’m the Odd One Out
I’m from a generation where people call us worse than millennials,
“lazy and unmotivated” they say.
“We just want the free handouts,” they say.
But I’m the odd one out.
I’m from a generation that doesn’t take the time to think–
that Juul pods and cigarette packs containing the same amount
of the addiction they crave.
They want to fit in.
But I’m the odd one out.
I’m from a generation creating a tainted philosophy–
“Live in the moment”
(act now, think later).
But I’m the odd one out.
I’m from a conscience urging me to think before I act,
to be wiser than my peers, even if it’s not the cool thing,
to not just do things that follow the status quo.
But I’m still the odd one out.
