The Hughes Project
The endless search for atomic words
How many do you need
To show off your linguistic power
And create a giant explosion;
Destroy the upper atmosphere of peoples’ minds
Perhaps they’re for a failed test,
Maybe they’ll brighten an unrequited crush,
But where is the explosive syllable
To make it seem like life or death;
It’s just nice to let the paper know
And wipe away so much with so little.
Read with Caution – it’s radioactive:
I will bombard you with emotions
Until your synapses miss
And your vision falters
All of this will be in my power
When I complete the search for atomic words.
