Mercury or Silver
Here I find myself
Standing under a separate sky
There is nothing solid for my toes to grasp.
One should be gregarious,
Yet I feel at peace here alone.
For this life is like liquefied silver
It is pure,
But easily marred
The softest rain falls, and the sky begins to quiver.
I wake to the Earth
I see mercury, not silver
Poverty, rape, insecurity, and racism.
I will help the rain to fall here,
Because a unified struggle is of equal worth.
