school sports

It is proven that students who participate in school sports programs, have better grades have more friends, are closer with their parents, less behavior problems in school, and less chance of drinking or drug use.

Students involved in school sports have to keep there grades about a C to participate in there games, or matches. They will keep grades up so they can participate. They also have more of a school “social life” because they are part of a team. They will have friends or at least acquaintances from there team. They will meet student they may have not had the opportunity to meet. There will be less chance of social isolation, and more chance of enjoying going to school.

Being in sports while in school can have its draw backs. There is long, exhausting, practices everyday after school during the sports season. The games are away a lot and you have to take a bus right after school and not get back to school until 7:30, or 8:00pm. We are usually so tired, and just want to go home. Also even though we are exhausted from the games or competition we usually still have homework to do, and tests to study for so it can be very tiring. Another drawback to being in a school sport is that you are so busy with practices, games, and homework. There is no time to just relax and have fun with your friends that are not on your sport team.

Even though you can be exhausted from the games, and practices, you can get a lot of pride in yourself and in your teammates after you perform really good, and it you lose a game you learn how to deal with loss as a team. Usually your friends who are not on the team try to understand what you are doing, and how important it is to you to be on the team. Some friends will get mad or impatient and not understand why you are always so busy; they are not your true friends. Your true friends will come to your games and cheer you on, or if at least call you and ask you how you did.

I think it is great for your body, better for your grades; you have more friends, have a closer relationship with your parents, less behavior problems in school and less chance for drugs and alcohol use if you are on sports teams. I would recommend it to anyone to find out what sport they like and tryout for the team. It does take a lot of time, energy, and money to be on sports team but it is worth it!

Peace. Love. Happiness.

I like this article. I'm in middle school and i get straight A's. I was in cheerleading for five years and now i am in tumbling so that i can achieve more skills for high school cheerleading. What is my point on this you may ask? Well i have gotten in trouble many times, and i still have time to hang out with friends a lot. I know that when i reach high school i might be a little bit more busy but still i will always have time for everything in my life. While being in a sport can still have its social downs, many people may not like you because of the sports you play, and you still may not be very popular.
