Bend Together
There is a pressure on youth by society to be the same. But there is also a pressure by society to be different. The people who praise themselves as different are really only the same as the other different people like them. But difference is not to bend away from norm or bend into it. Difference is the extra late hour of the night studying for exams. It is the curving lines of a dark blue tattoo dedicated to a great father. It is the last high note of a church choir before the standing ovation. When difference will truly begin to flourish is when we will forget our obsession of separating ourselves from one another and bring ourselves together, not because of our similar interests, but because we are human. When the day comes that we will stop trying to be different and begin to create it, only then will we see difference.
