Some would think that wherever the Olympics are located that it is a nice, luxurious place. In the 2014 Winter Olympics, that was far from the truth. Even though the worlds largest sporting event was held in Sochi, Russia, the living conditions there are very poor, compared to years before. For most of the participants in the olympics, they do not care what the conditions are, as long as they are doing what they love to do, and achieve their goals.

In the living conditions of Sochi Russia, it includes bad water, and the hotel rooms that the athletes stayed in were absolutely disgusting. “There have been some hilarious — and some gross — reports of the conditions so far. From a lack of shower curtains to dirty water to beds that are made for very small competitors, athletes and reporters alike should have an interesting stay in Sochi.” -Trevor Cullen from NESN news reports.

Brown water, bugs and no light bulbs in the hotel room of athletes. Most reporters ask why do the people who came to achieve their dream have to live in such crucial conditions? Reporters also reported that the athletes don't care about it as long as they are achieving these life long dreams.

With terrorist threats, homophobic attacks, and diplomatic tensions, many have questioned whether Sochi is ready to hold the Winter Olympic Games. Days before the major event, they finally decided on the event being held there, and the hotel rooms were not prepared. Some athletes didn't have shower curtains, some did not have working toilets, or even showers that didn't work.
Some take for granted what we have here in America, and dont realize how poorly some people in other countries have it. “Even though we think we have it bad, we dont, we have clean water, roofs over our heads, and plenty of money to get us by.” American Olympic Meryl Davis said to reporter Michael Jocks.
