Benefits of Vegetarian food

Do you think people benefit from eating only vegetables and avoiding meat? Eating vegetarian food not only helps prevent chronic diseases but consuming meat is inhumane and harmful to the environment. It’s true that humans have been depending on meat since the beginning of time and hunting for their only source of food. Now, in the 21st century, it’s time to change that and use our brains because we know more than our ancestors.
Its been proven that eating vegetarian food prevents kidney stones, gallstones, the risk of heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, and the 40% chance of developing cancer. A diet high in animal protein is responsible for the high rates (15% of men and 7% of women) of kidney stones in the United States, according to a peer-reviewed Nov. 15, 1999 study. This shows that kidney stones and gallstones are significantly reduced by consuming a vegetarian diet. According to a peer-reviewed 1999 study of 76,000 people, vegetarians had 24% lower mortality from heart disease than meat eaters. A vegetarian diet lowers the risk of strokes and hypertension, thus preventing heart diseases. A vegetarian diet rich in whole grains, legumes, nuts, and soy proteins helps to improve glycemic control in people who already have diabetes too. The risk of colon cancer significantly increases according to a peer-reviewed 1994 study by Harvard researchers, consuming beef, pork, or lamb five or more times a week. So, consuming a meat based diet increases the risk of succumbing to chronic diseases.
Over grazing of farm animals has led to destruction of farmland. About 70% of the 11 western states are grazed by livestock. Gases released by the animals result in more greenhouse gases (ex. methane) and increase global warming. Livestock birds which are raised for killing and serving as meat are not killed by the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act (HMSA). Animals live in filthy and overcrowded spaces. Pigs have their tails cut off, chickens have their toenails and beaks clipped off, and cows have their horns removed and tails cut off with no painkillers. Pregnant pigs are kept in metal crates barely bigger than they are. The humans in the slaughter-houses treat the animals like that because they are not human. Humans are smart, and they should treat the animals better even if they are going to have a short life.
In conclusion, eating vegetarian food prevents more chronic diseases than a meat-based diet. Raising animals for livestock also harms the environment and the killing of the farm animals are done inhumanly. Eating vegetarian and healthy food will benefit in many ways to the environment and humans.

I am a vegetarian and feel that eating meat is not beneficial to the human race and cruelity to the animals.
