America, The Not So Beautiful MAG

By Anonymous

   America, America did God really shed his grace on thee?

When the red blood of murder covers your streets,

And white snow flurries drop upon your freezing homeless;

Your spacious skies have become smog-filled hells.

While the stars of your once proud government, spend the

rest of their lives in stripes behind bars.

Your schools once produced the world's greatest minds

now some have trouble finding the Rhine.

As your military budget soars,

the poor of your country lose more and more.

Once you produced great industrial creations,

now you are owned by another nation.

O! America what has happened to your purple mountains

majesty;

What has happened to your shining seas?

I yearn for the return of your greatness,

to be led once again by men like Jefferson,

Washington and Lincoln

To be the citizen of a country,

that is indeed the land of the free and the brave,

and not of the greedy and the poor.

A country where all men are truly created equal;

not judged just on the color of their skin.

America, please come back to me.

Y'know, I bet you haven't seen what goes on everywhere but America. Just head down to Africa and tell me if it's any better over there.

This article made me sad- because it is completely true. I feel like we've lost everything that made us the land of the free. I think this is why I like books and history so much- because the place we're living in now is so... bland and has such a lack of culture and uniqueness. I hope one day we will finally find the land of the free again.
