Beneficial Bloodshed
Summary:
Set in 1994 China, this bildungsroman/horror short story follows fourteen-year-old sibling Lingde. She has been hiding her whole life due to the one-child policy set before she was born. When the police find out about her, she was left in a cell for four months. The day has come and she is thrown on a plane with twenty-three other siblings. They are entered in a competition designed to get rid of them, Beneficial Bloodshed. As Lingde comes to terms with her involvement in the competition, she begins to question her morals in her attempts to reach her goal.
