June 24, 2014
Dispatcher: 911 what is your emergency?
Unknown female:I just killed my uncle
Dispatcher: Honey where are you?
Unknown Female: 234 South Becker Street,
As police rush the house, they find fifty six year old Bobby Brecks dead in his kitchen stab wounds cover his body. Emily his niece comes out of the bathroom, fresh from a hot shower, as the police arrest her she smiles.
“Did you do this?” The deputy asked
“Is a pig considered pork?” She replied nonchalantly
Emily Cass was your average college student, growing up dirt poor and in an unstable family love was something that wasn’t present. Her father a chronic heroin user for years and her mother an abusive drunk Emily was subject to abuse daily. The oldest of five children she was forced to become a woman at the age of twelve when her father died of an apparent heroin overdose and her mother was named unfit to care for her children. Placed in the care of her uncle Bobby, Emily took to her new life. Bobby was a construction worker who had saved his money to build his own home, twice divorced and no kids Bobby was lonely in his half a million dollar home. So when his niece and nephews were put in his care he immediately jumped into the role of caregiver. As they pulled into driveway Emily was amazed she had never seen a house so big and beautiful.
“Alright come on out. Don’t be scared, now I know it’s different but I promise you’ll love it in time.” Bobby said
“Do you have fancy maids like on TV?” Calvin (Emily’s youngest brother) asked
“No. But I do have a fancy cook” Bobby laughed
As they came in Bobby gave them a tour of their new home, showing them the kitchen, living room, then the backyard where there was a pool and jacuzzi. Also he had built a game arcade for the boys and Emily had her own beauty studio in the basement of the house, he then showed them their rooms. Emily cried tears of joy as she walked into her room, Bobby had painted the walls pink and white, she had two dressers, a desk for school work, a laptop and flat screen tv along with a closet full of new clothes, and her own personal bathroom with new clean towels.
“Do you like it?” Bobby hesitated
“I love it ! Thank you! Thank you so much Uncle Bobby!” Emily Cried
“Get comfortable kiddo, dinner will be here any minute” Bobby said
Unpacking what little things she could bring, Emily settled into her new life fast. She finally knew what it felt like to be loved, so many thoughts rushed through her head as to what tomorrow will bring in the middle of her day dreaming her middle brother Gerald barged into her room.
“Come on stupid. Dinner’s here!” Gerald screamed
“Shut up.” Emily said
“Now respect each other I don't want to hear that language in this house” Bobby said
Sitting at the dinner table Bobby immediately got down to business.
“Alright I’m giving you a week. That gives me time to get you registered in school, and get you acquainted with the neighbors and their kids. Emily I know you’ve never really got to be a kid so tomorrow I’m taking you to get your hair and nails done then tomorrow night we’ll go see a movie and try to be a family. But for now you will settle into life with me and I’ll try to be the best I can be” Bobby said
Devouring the chinese food the children felt embarrassed they hadn’t had take out in so long they couldn’t help themselves. After dinner Emily offered to help with the dishes but Bobby reassured her that she was no longer “mom” but Emily the big sister who needed to live her own life. Retiring to her new room she noticed she had a little gift on her bed, Bobby had bought her cellphone so she could be like the other kids. Taking a nice hot shower, Emily couldn’t help but think of her parents even though they weren’t the best she missed them deeply and she let out silent sobs as she showered away her old life. It was now ten at night she didn’t have the energy to watch television instead she climbed into her queen size canopy bed and drifted into a deep slumber.
The following morning Emily was awakened to the smell of pancakes cooking, she brushed her teeth and threw on her purple polka dot robe and proceeded downstairs where the family was waiting.
“And goodmorning to you sleepy head” Bobby joked
“What time is it?” Emily said
“It’s twelve in the afternoon special one” Gerald said
As she ate her breakfast, Emily felt a sense of relief that she didn’t have to cook, clean or be an adult for once. She couldn’t even remember the last time she had ate her own breakfast instead of giving it to her brother’s so they wouldn’t be hungry. She looked at her brother’s and she had never seen them smile so much especially her youngest brother who had been so attached to her mother. Later that day Bobby took her to the salon to get her hair professionally washed and styled. Then on to the nail shop where she got her hands and feet painted neon pink with purple strips. It felt good to be a kid and not worry about nothing. It made her body feel great to be a twelve year old child without responsibilities.
“Kiddo do you want to see DoodleBob or NickNick?” Bobby asked since Emily was extremely quiet
“DoodleBob is fine.” Emily replied
“You okay? You haven’t said a word since we left the salon.” Bobby said
“ Mom never did things with me like you do. So I’m just thinking about what life would’ve been like if they didn’t do drugs.” Emily said as tears came to her eyes
After going to the movies Bobby put the kids to bed while he stayed up in his office which the kids were never allowed in. The rest of week went by without incident, the kids met the neighbors and their children and hit it off especially Emily. He got the kids registered in school and the night before their first day he talked to them about just being themselves. The next morning the all piled into the car and headed to their destinations.
“How we feeling?” Bobby asked
“Good but nervous” They all replied
“You’ll be fine the school has all my numbers if things get to be too much I’ll come get you.” Bobby reassured
Dropping them off he smiled at Emily and gave her a big thumbs up. Once inside Emily took her brothers to their classrooms then made her way to her own class. She was stared at by the other kids but mainly because she was new, she scanned the class looking for Ashley the girl who lived next door and whom she had met a couple days before. Ashley signaled for her to come sit by her.
“Hey you okay?” Ashley asked
“Yeah just a little nervous”Emily replied
The day went by slow but it was a good day for everyone. It was october and in Los Angeles it’s hot. Holiday’s came and gone without incident, and for the next four years things for the Cass children were good.
Things changed during the middle of Emily’s sophomore year in high school, Emily noticed her Uncle Bobby wasn’t his normal self. He seemed more tense and angry.
“Uncle Bobby are you okay?” Emily asked hesitantly
“Yeah I am but I’m sorry I have a lot on my plate” Bobby replied
“Like what?” Her brothers asked
“Well I have five mouths to feed, bills and not enough time to get everything done!” Bobby screamed
“You don’t have to be so mean” Emily said
“Go to your room all of you, I don’t even wanna look at any of you.” Bobby snarled
“But we’re still eating” Emily said
“Go to your room!” Bobby screamed
Retiring to her room, Emily talked to Ashley about what was going on with the family after her long conversation with her best friend she showered and fell asleep. Around three in the mornin she rolled over to notice her Uncle was standing over her bed.
“Bobby you scared me. How long you been there? Emily asked
“Get up” Bobby said
As Emily got out of bed, Bobby immediately pulled her pants down. Trying to fight him off Bobby forced Emily on to the bed.
“What are you doing?” Emily said
“Shh quiet.” Bobby said
The entire ordeal felt like it went on for an eternity. Emily felt sick to her stomach she just layed there and endured the abuse. After he was done, he threw her a towel and left. The next morning she could barely walk, Did that really happen? Am I dreaming? thoughts ran through her mind as she tried to make sense of what her uncle did to her. Little did Emily know this was just the beginning.
By the time Emily was close to graduating high school, the abuse her uncle inflicted had become the normal she hid the troubles for the sake of her brothers who had no idea what was going on. On her graduation night, she had a private night with her uncle and it wasn’t pleasant.
“What’s wrong? I thought you liked chocolate cake and picnics. You did when you were a little girl.” Bobby said
“Before you took my innocence. Don’t you know what you’re doing is sick.” Emily snapped
“Whoa. It’s sick but you never told me no. And we need to talk about you” Bobby said
“What about me? Going to college?” Emily asked
“Yeah. I know there are going to be boys and I understand. But you are not to have any relations with them. Understand?” Bobby said
“Are you crazy! I don’t belong to you and nobody else for that matter. I am going to find a boyfriend and there’s nothing you can do.” Emily screamed as she went back into the house.
Emily’s first two years of college were tough, Bobby had cut her off from the money so she was forced to get two jobs and pay her way through school. Her brothers were now in high school with lives of their own, still innocent at heart. Emily did find a boyfriend Michael Jacobson a future pediatric doctor who was in her health science class. They hadn’t been together long before she met his family and was welcomed with open arms, however Michael pressured her to meet her family and every time she refused. Until the fall of 2013 she invited him to a thanksgiving dinner at Bobby’s house they hadn’t spoken since that warm night of her graduation. When they walked into the house she could feel Bobby’s darkness creeping upon her.
“You must be Michael. I’m Bobby Brecks Emily’s Uncle. I’ve heard so much about you.” Bobby said as he faked a smile
“What an honor” Michael spoke politely
“Michael let me introduce you to everyone else.” Emily insisted
As Michael got comfortable, Bobby pulled Emily into her old bedroom
“Are you stupid? You bring him to my event that’s like a slap to my face!” Bobby screamed
“You don’t own me !” Emily snapped
“I will make sure you suffer until your last breath” Bobby said
“You’re sick” Emily said
After that Bobby began stalking Emily and Michael. Michael who was unaware thought Emily was overreacting. As the summer approached Emily’s nerves were beginning to rattle. Bobby was growing increasingly dangerous day by day, he watched Emily’s every move. She went to the police but they didn’t do anything. June came and Emily promised her youngest brother that she would be there for the summer to be with him.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you?” Michael asked
“No honey I’ll be fine. Go have fun with the guys” Emily insisted
As she pulled into the driveway Emily felt a rush of adrenalin come through her body. Walking in she noticed something different about the house, for one her brothers were nowhere in site. Second Bobby was cooking dinner instead of ordering in like he would normally do.
“Emily” Bobby said
“Where’s Calvin?” Emily asked
“Wrong weekend to come. The boys are away at a waterpark with their friends. So it’s just us” Bobby said with a devilish smirk on his face
“I’m leaving” Emily said , But as she attempted to walk toward the door Bobby locked the automatic bolt on all the doors and windows. Emily is now being held captive against her will.
“Let me out!” Emily screamed
“No it’s time you pay for what you have done. I warned you and you ignored me.” Bobby said
As he attempted to hurt her like her had down for years, she panicked grabbing a knife from the counter.
“Leave me alone or I’ll use this” Emily warned
“Go ahead it’s your funeral” Bobby said
Before she could stop herself, Emily had begun to stab her uncle until he was on the marble kitchen floor. After she was satisfied with her work, she called 911 to report what she had done. By the time cops arrived emily was already showered and dressed when she walked down the stairs. As they arrested her Emily seemed to not be fazed by her crime or her upcoming punishment. Sentenced to life in prison,Emily was unmoved. However she had a plan and she put it into motion as soon as possible. After nearly three years in prison Emily grew tired of the restricted life and began to act out her plan. Seducing the guards she seen her way out.
“Baby you have to help me get out of here. You said it yourself that I don’t belong here” Emily pleaded with lover
“Alright fine look the laundry truck will be here tomorrow morning 8 am sharp. I will take you out of your cell down to the laundry room as “punishment” then you get in a laundry bag and I put you in the back of the truck. I’ve already contacted your brother he’s the one driving so everything is set.” The guard said
“Good and baby you know I love you. I will be yours soon” Emily replied kissing him on the cheek
The following morning everything went according to plan. Once away from the prison, Gerald let Emily know the coast was clear. Dropping her off at an older man’s house, Emily got out and kissed the ground something she hadn’t seen outside the prison walls in nearly three years. As the cold rain hit her body, she ran into the arms of the older man she had met during her college days. Feeling his warm embrace, she couldn’t help but cry. “Im free finally free!” she screamed inside her mind as they walked inside Emily could feel the cool air conditioner on her pale dry skin. For the next six months things for Emily went well Until one night she seen herself on America’s Most Wanted. The next morning after eating a light breakfast, Emily packed all her clothes and possessions while her now husband went away for a business trip. After loading everything into a U-Haul, Emily left Los Angeles. Returning home days later, her husband couldn’t understand why she would leave and not tell him. He committed suicide because he was so depressed over her leaving. Her family never heard from her ever again.
“Emily Cass is a convicted murderer and is considered armed and dangerous. She is 5’4 and last known weight of 125 pounds, blue eyes and brown hair with freckles on her nose. If you have any information as to where she is please contact us” The America’s Most Wanted Announcer Said
“Mmm I would hate to have her in this town. Murder?” A man spoke
“Yeah there’s some crazy people in the world. Are you single?” Emily asked
“Widower actually.” The man said
“Well I can make you feel alive again” Emily said
As the two walked out of iHop, the man asked “Have you ever been with an older man little girl?”
“I’ve had my fair share.” Emily said
“I’m so lonely now that my wife is gone, I’m dying inside” The man
“Well I could end that misery” Emily said as a devilish look came across her face
