Chaos is an angel who fell in love with a demon. -Christopher Poindexter
I snuck out almost every night for a year to see him, taking human form and meeting beneath the cherry blossom tree, he stood waiting for me as he always did. Sometimes I worried about what would happen if Gabriel found out but then he would hold me and all the worry would fade.
I knew what he was and still I fell.
As February approached Barchiel Angel of the month got ready to guide the humans who prayed to him for their loved ones to know their feelings on Valentine's Day, on such a day the humans needed much more guidance and because of that Gabriel allowed me to leave Shamayim as the Angel of Communication it was on the night of February the 14th as I headed back that I met him.
I'd needed a little extra time away from Shamayim after the day was over and decided to take human form and stroll through my favorite garden, at night it was usual empty but on that night he was there. I saw him crying underneath a cherry blossom tree, silent tears slipping down his pale cheeks, long black hair falling around his shoulders without thinking I approached him wanting to give comfort. The moment I looked into his eyes I knew who and what he was, the one called Dantalion but also during those few moments I saw a man with real pain and though I was afraid I stayed by his side in comfort.
"I didn't think you were coming, little angel."
Forbidden as these meetings are I can not bring myself to stay away, is this what to be in love means? Under the moon and stars sitting together it was almost as if just for these few hours we were merely man and woman enjoying each others company.
"Why did you think that?" I asked sitting down beneath the cherry blossoms and the moon.
He collapsed beside me."Because you should stay far away from me little angel, do you truly not fear me?"
"No," this was true, Dantalion though a Duke of Hell he no longer scared me.
He had so much pain wrapped around him that I couldn't help but want to try and ease it even if it meant breaking the rules even if all I can do is sit by his side underneath the cherry blossom tree.
"You are a weird one little angel, but I do not detest your presence, please continue to meet with me until we can no longer do this." I shifted so that my head rested on his shoulder and relaxed as his fingers played with my red hair, happy to hear him say he wanted me near.
We sat there like always until the sun began to rise then I retreated back to Shamayim lips still tingling from our kiss, as I did every morning only this time was different because waiting at the entrance was Gabriel.
"I see you've returned Ambriel," Gabriel is the Messenger Angel, head of Shamayim the first level of heaven where I and all the other Zodiac angels reside.
"I'm sorry I left without permission," I kept my head bowed.
"This is not your first time away, I know where you've been and who you've been with. What am I to do with you?"
"Gabriel what do I do?" I feared being punished but I needed answers for my confused heart.
"Do not let this interfere with your destiny Ambriel," He answered.
I dropped my head into my hands, " I love him."
Gabriel rested a hand on my head. "I know how you feel I also fell in love with someone I could never be with but I let her go because I am needed here. I put my feelings aside, are you prepared to abandon your post and the humans who pray to you?"
"They have you and the others to watch over them," the words were selfish I knew but at that moment I didn't care.
"Ambriel, yes there are many of us angels but there is still only one of you, you are irreplaceable regardless," with that he left me.

The next night I snuck out again this time with a heavy heart, Dantalion waited as always his gaze locked on the branches of the cherry blossom tree.
"I see you've come again little angel," he said without looking at me.
"Do you wish for me to stop coming?" I asked quietly fearing his answer, he kept his eyes on the flowers blooming above us.
"Are you not here to say goodbye?" His words were kind but still they cut deep.
I knew this was something we could not continue forever but my heart couldn't help but break even so.
I hung my head afraid he would see the tears that formed. "Am I that easy to read?"
"Fate and destiny are not something we can deny, I will not taint you and drag you into my world for it is not a pretty place. You are pure and shall stay that way."
I felt him approach but I couldn't bring myself to look at him, his finger lightly gripped my chin and forced me to look at him, the tears flowed over sliding down my cheeks and onto his hand. I tried to pull away but he wrapped his arms around me and held me until I calmed down.
"Even though these are our last moments together I want you to know I cherished all of our time together," he said into my hair.
"I love you," the words slipped out even though I knew there was no point in saying them.
He rested his head against mine, "I love you too, Ambriel." It was the first and last time he would say my name but I was happy all the same.
We sat beneath the cherry blossom one last time, hands entwined until the sun began to rise. The pain in my chest was almost unbearable but I shed no more tears, even though it was coming to an end I would always remember the year I fell in love with a demon and the happiness I felt just being able to be at his side even for awhile.
Maybe our hearts would find each other once more in another life where we really were just a human man and woman if fate would allow it.
"I will remember you every time a cherry blossom tree blooms and every time I see the sunrise," Dantalion said as we stood to part ways one last time.
I smiled, "Goodbye."
Our farewell kiss was bittersweet but for just those few seconds were once again just man and woman kissing underneath the fully bloomed cherry blossom tree and the rising sun.
She was an angel craving Chaos.
He was a demon seeking peace.
