The Knight Before Christmas
Summary:
Professor Awsten Knight can’t make heads or tails of his new roommate, Jay Walker. Awsten’s curious energy is usually enough to break down anyone, but Jay simply won’t budge, as he intentionally clouds his backstory and his work as a detective. However, when Jay is recruited to investigate a dead body on Christmas morning, Awsten jumps on the opportunity to investigate not only the murder - but also Jay’s work - much to his roommate’s chagrin. The pair travel from a living room, to a rooftop, and to no one’s surprise, an Applebee’s, as Awsten and Jay challenge each other’s behavior and thought processes. The underlying themes of the story are compassion and the boons of collaboration, as dark emotional trauma is balanced by quips, a growing camaraderie, and a feel-good ending.
