If I could, I would like to go on a trip to Germany. Why do I want to go to Germany? I am a major “gear head” which means I love cars and everything about them. What makes them go, how well they go, and how fast they go. Bottom line, I love cars and everything about them. Which brings us back to Germany. Germany is considered by many to be the car capital of the world. Germany is home to four major car companies; Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and BMW. If I could, I would like to go to these four companies, and tour their factories, and go to their museums.

My first stop on my trip would be in Ingolstadt, the home of Audi. Audi is one of the most well known luxury car companies in the world. In fact, Audi’s A6, which is their midsize sedan, sells more models in Kansas than any other state. Audi also has a rich racing history. In their museum, they have all the race cars from past races. The companies slogan is “Vorsprung Durch Technik” which is german for “Advancement Through Technology”. Audi lives up to those standards by being one of the most sold cars in America today.

The next destination on my trip would be to Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart. Mercedes is well known by many as another luxury vehicle manufacturer. Like Audi, Mercedes likes to combine performance with luxury. One of their goals is to not just make a quiet comfortable car, but make a car that will get you there faster, while getting the adrenaline rush and excitement you get from a well built car. Mercedes-Benz also has a racing background dating back to its founder who said that they make “the best or nothing” that phrase has stuck and is the company slogan to this day.

Then I will stay in Stuttgart and head over to Porsche.  Porsche is known for making performance vehicles as well as race cars. Their most popular coupe is the 911. The 911 is a two door car that has a mid engine or an engine above the rear axle. The most performance version of the car, the 911 turbo S, is able to reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 197. Not all of their cars are this fast but they are all well known and very well built. In a recent survey, of all Porsche’s built in the last 30 years, 99.7% of them are still on the road today.
?Last but not least I will travel to Munich, the home of BMW. BMW or Bavarian Motor Works is another luxury performance car company. BMW started as an airplane manufacturing company during World War l. After the war they started making cars and motorcycles. BMW makes some of the most famous performance sedans today. Many companies try to model their cars just so they can compete with BMW.

Germany is home to many car companies. As you can see, they specialize in luxury performance vehicles to help you go fast and stay relaxed on your journey.
