Basketball MAG
Basketball, a game of skill, a joy to play
Invented by a teacher on a cold winter day
Evolved into a league called the NBA
That boasts grown men who play for pay.
Teams are home to cities from Boston to L.A.
And compete every year for the championship in May
Yet through it all, the game has changed in such a way
Moving from set shot to jump shot to slam dunk to "trey."
So, as I write now on this cold winter day,
I am honing my skills in hopes that one day
When I walk down the street, people will say
"There goes Jon Powers, the best in the NBA"
Who knows? They may, but for now I must play.
