Our Lives Are Not Heard
As I’m walking into arden to find my brother the cop had asked us “Are you Black Kids waiting for the fights to happen”. HOLD UP, I paused myself for a second almost like time just slowed down for me so I could think about my next decision, which yes could land me in jail but when you hear something like that your body reacts so fast that you don’t even know what your about to do. Wow I never thought I would have been racially profiled, stereotyped, and be called a BLACK KID. In my head, (Yeah yeah yeah I know I’m black but really you’re gonna point that out to me, like right here, oh man our society has everything messed up) At that moment I knew I was being racially profiled.
