Everyone told me “high school will be fun, you are going to love it” when I was graduating middle school.  That was the biggest lie that I had ever heard.  High school has been not only one of the hardest things that I have ever done but, it taught me the best lessons that I had ever learned.  I know what you're thinking, “she is full of it, high school was hard but I did not learn any lesson from it.”  Well, think about how much you have grown from the start of freshman year to where you are now.  Did you ever think you would come this far?  The good news is you are not the only one who had thought during high school that you just could not do it, or that you were not going to be able to get through all four years.

There are a lot of road bumps that you will hit along your journey that will seem impossible to get over but, you will.  Look back to when you walked in those doors freshman year.  Are the people that you walked in with still by your side now?  Are you the same innocent person you were?  I think most of us could probably answer no to both of those.  Everybody has lost a friend that you thought would be there to come over and babysit your kids, or heard things in the school halls that you never wanted to ever hear.  It sucks going through things that you thought you would never have to go through yourself.  But, if you think you did not learn anything from that, you're wrong.  Losing friends makes you realize what kind of friend you are going to be in your next friendship, or hearing things makes yo realize that hey, you're not as bad off as you thought you were.  Or discovering that your valedictorian cheats to do well on some tests.

High school is full of unknown surprises but, without those things where would you be now?  Would you have learned how to work hard, how to make new friends, how to decide what is worth your time and what is it? I don't think you would have.  You may regret doing a lot of things that you did in high school but I think regretting something means it was a lesson learned.  Try to look on the bright side and realize that if you didn't experience all of those things in high school you wouldn't be the person you are today.
