Two years ago on November 14th 2014. I had an interview at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I was nervous because I didn't know what to wear. Looking into the half empty closet for the prefect dress that would make me shine, I finally found something to wear. I chose a black, sky blue and orange flowy dress to wear along with sky blue sandals and a blazer to match it all. After getting dressed, I had to stop and think because I was nervous about this job interview. I honestly didn’t know if I would do well, or if I would even be able to talk to the manager…. I was hoping not to do any of the talking.

“It’s time to go” my mom said.

We got into the car and headed to K.F.C. It just so happened that I arrived a couple minutes ahead of schedule. As I entered, I told the cashier that I was here to see Ms. Olive for my interview. After a couple minutes, I finally met with Ms. Olive and we talk about the job and what the job required. Everything she spoke of I knew that I could do with no problems. Minutes go by and I knew I had this in the bag. That day, Magalie became employed at KFC.

I was so happy. This meant that I could finally help around the house. The days I heard my mother being upset about not being able to pay the bills were soon to come to an end. No More Struggling! Bills will be paid! Lights will stay on! No more worries. I had to wait at least a week until my uniform came in … weeks past and I received my uniform from Ms. Olive. I was still kind of nervous because I would only be working with adults, but once I got to know everyone, I found my place in the store.

Besides the fact that Ms. Olive was the mean but somewhat nice manager, she made sure you learned menu front to back. Within a couple of days of working, I had it down. Many other days you couldn’t tell how Olive was feeling whether if you were going to have a busy day or fun day …. And by fun I mean telling jokes on each other and dancing around, playing music. Working here was just a fun experience. When it came down to really working, we did what was needed but we also had fun while doing it.

I also grew a strong bond with the other workers. This wasn’t a regular bond, I had a strong connection with the ladies, and I could tell them anything and get some good advice. These were females that been through things that I might have questions to. Now that I really thought about it, this job really helped me over the years. It moved me to be an independent person, to stand on my own two feet. I grew a lot from when I first started working.
