My only general question to my 50 year old self is this, as simple and as complicated as it might sound..

What advice would you give me?

Hi Ruwaa,

I am writing to you from the future. It is great here. My robot butler says hello, and once I've landed this jetpack on my iHome I'll say hello back. I am 50 now. 35 years older. This means I have twice your experience. Twice your knowledge. Sadly, I am also twice your size.

Anyways, your little question has a huge answer as there are many things that I would like to tell you, but let me start with telling you this. The path that you're on, is always the path you are meant to be on. Do your homework. Seriously, I know it seems stupid, but just do it. Start projects/papers the day they're assigned, not the night before they're due. It doesn't matter if you get an A either way, why stress yourself out like that? Whatever seems like a big deal, won't mean much later on. Take it with a grain of salt. If you have something that requires focus, focus. Work hard no matter what it is you're doing and remember it always pays off in one way or another.

Family always comes first. You'll never regret kindness, offer it boldly. You can do absolutely anything you set your mind to. Anything. Never use your past as an excuse, instead use it as a driving force. Be the bigger person and put a smile on your face, even when you want to hit them in the face. Uplift others. Make someone laugh. Always. Even in the face of conflict. Life starts after high school. It may seem like that English paper is the most important thing in the world (no offense to my previous English teachers, especially Mr. Trimm), but real life starts the minute you leave those halls.

Eat what you want now. Once you get to my age that metabolism of ours is going to slow down so eat pizza at one in the morning. Don't go through life with regrets. Be nice to your little brother. Practice patience more. Your parents will be proud of you no matter what, but making yourself proud is important, too. Give yourself some time, don't be confused, everything will become clear to you. The pieces of the puzzle will reveal themselves and all you have to do is keep finding out what makes you feel the happiest. In simpler words, go for it girl. 'Nothing to fear but fear itself' is such an old saying, but if it helps you take a leap and if it's the only thing that happens, you will have the lasting, lifelong satisfaction of having made a leap. You have the courage of your convictions and the strength within yourself to do anything. Your future can be enjoyed even when things get tough. They will get tough and they will get easy and when you look back at those times, the rough ones will often be the ones you remember best.

The journey is the most amazing ride of your life. You'll soon realize every time you get to your desired destination, you want to go for the ride again.

Dreams do come true, keep dreaming.

Your older you.
