I love dogs. My family has always been rather attached to dogs, it's hard not to love them with their soft and loving eyes and loving personality. I was actually in part raised by two in particular. One whose name has been lost in the records and memories of my family and the other one being a black lab mix named Porter. I guess it may seem strange to some people, a little baby girl being guarded by a dog laying down next to her as she sleeps zipped up in a backpack with her head poking out. That's me though, I'm the baby in the bag what when woke up and started to fuss the dog would lick my face. At least until I was happy or my dad came over and scooped me up feeding my  want for attention and love. I really should have guessed it though when my dad cut my umbilical cord with his pocket knife that my life would be so weird. So yes you could blame my strangeness on those two things, me, well I balme it on the fact that my dad has taught me since birth not to care what other people think of you and not to change who I am for them.

"Only one person actually has an opinion that matters in this world" he would say "and it sure isn't Tommy Jerkhead down the street."

This is another thing I love about dogs, they aren't like people. We are honestly the most judgmental things on the planet, we judge this person because of their hair style and that one because they eat so much, honestly though it's human nature to be harder on yourself. How many times I have looked into the mirror and seen something less than anyone else sees when they look at me I can't tell you. Dogs, well their dogs, their big happy and 'dumb'. They love being around their owners and are adorable. They aren't held down by modern society and the latest fashion trends, the only thing that stops them from doing whatever they please is their loyalty and that the fence stops them from chasing the mailman to who knows where. Well I guess the mailman knows.

My family is very outdoorsy so we tend to go camping, boating, kayaking, fishing, etc. For us part of that entitles us bringing our two dogs no matter if it's just overnight and we can leave them in the backyard. They absolutly love it too, the minute we find our camping spot in the middle of nowhere and way out of cell or internet service we let them out of their kennels. They bounce around the camp, pee on every tree within a mile radius, and the whole time seem to grin. Dogs love being with their family though. Even when we just watch a family movie or just smile at either of them and say, "I love you" in a cutesy little voice they perk up and seem to grin even wider. Their tails though tend to wag so fast when we do this that everything behind them seems to cool down about ten degrees.

I guess the whole meaning of this article is that I love my dogs, and I have good reason to. See my personal dog, his name is Sarge. He is a yellow lab about two years old with a big boxy head and a tail that curves up making the fur on the bottom stick out like frill on a flapper dress. I love him to bits. He almost never leaves my side and is one of the most amazing dogs in the world in my opinion. He is everything I could ask for in a dog and he loves me too, almost as much as I love him and is always there to comfort me even when I snap at him. Sarge forgives my mistakes and lets me read books to him including my own and is patient while I stop every five seconds to fix something in my writing. You see Sarge is one of the best dogs. I'm just lucky enough to have him as mine. You read earlier in my article that I read my writing to Sarge, I usually do that with every peice I write. Being as his tail fan has blown a couple papers to the other side of the room I'm going to assume this has his approval. However, this month take time to notice your special friend whether they be a dog, cat, gerbil, or even a fish if that's what floats your boat. Why do you love them? What are some of the little things they do to show you that they love you? And my last question: how are you going to show them today how much you love them back?
