Have you ever had to overcome an obstacle? One of the biggest obstacles I have overcome is starting high school. All summer I was nervous about starting high school. I was nervous about how I would make friends or if I would find my classes. In all, I wasn’t ready to start high school, and I was terrified thinking about it.
At the beginning, before I started high school, I went to St. Joe. St. Joe is a really small school, so I really only knew the people in my class. I was used to having a small class with shorter class periods. I didn’t have any friends from the middle school and had no idea what high school would be like.
Following this, the first day of high school was scary. On the first day of school, I didn’t know anyone. I also had to walk around school with a map to find my classes. Also, during lunch I had nobody to sit with. I felt like I was out of place and it was very uncomfortable for me.
As a result, school is now easy and everything is fine. I made some friends and most of the people here are nice. Now I have a spot to sit at during lunch. I finally know more of the school and know where my classes are. Everything is comfortable and school is going well.
This is one of my biggest achievements in my life. Now that I have gotten past the fear of starting high school, I feel so much better. I don’t think many things like this will scare me anymore. After overcoming this obstacle, a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. As Helen Keller said, “All the world is full of suffering, It is also full of overcoming”. I am glad I have been given the opportunity to overcome high school.
