If you are worried about starting high school, just remember this quote from Helen Keller, “Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye”. In other words, that means, don’t be nervous. Be confident, and tell your nerves to shut-up. However, when I started high school I didn’t have that quote to help me. I will tell you about my original thoughts, first few days, and how I feel now.
In my last St. Joe (SJS) days, my thoughts about going to high school were just like any other student’s. I was nervous thinking about my transition from SJS to ERHS. Many problems came to mind: locker troubles, friends, and lunch. Another thing I wondered was, will I like my teachers, will I have any classes with my friends, and how do I get to my classes?
Finally, it was my first day of school at ERHS. Of course, I was right about having problems with my locker. I think the hardest part was trying to remember the bell system. I actually had to keep my phone in my pocket to know how much time I had.
Now that I’ve been going to ERHS for a while, I’m used to it. I no longer need to keep my phone in my pocket to know how much time I have. I also have new friends and no locker troubles. Everything that I was worried about is solved, I don’t have any problems and fit in.
In conclusion, my high school transition was just like any other student’s. It’s normal to be nervous about going from one school to another. In the future, when I make transitions, I will be more prepared for what awaits me. Overall, my original thoughts and my first few days are different than what I think now.
