On July 16th I arrived at Dell Children's Hospital to get my Heart Surgery. When I got inside we checked in and sat in the waiting room. At first I was excited to get my surgery but then I started having second thoughts. By the time I had got my gown on and I was in the room beside the operating room where they were informing my parents about what will happen during the surgery and how they will keep my vitals and blood pressure in tact and how long the operation will be. About 10 minutes after that they took me into the operating room and put a mask on my face with anesthetics which is a gas running out of it over my face. Anesthetics are what they give to people before they perform surgery. The reason you don't feel anything is because the Anesthetics sort of put you in a coma so you can't feel or hear anything while you are asleep. As I breathed in the gas I started to feel dizzy and drowsy after that I fell asleep.

About 8 hours later they woke me up and I was hooked up to a bunch of wires and tubes and I had chest tubes inside of me and a breathing tube to help me breathe normally so I didn't drive up my blood pressure. Some doctors came in to see how I felt and to see if everything was running smoothly. Afterwards they brought me to the I.C.U. (Intensive Care Unit) and let my parents stay in the room with me.for the first two days they came in regularly to see how I was doing. The first night they woke me up so I could take my medicine. The first thing I thought was "GO AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM SLEEPING. But I took it and went back to sleep. The next day the Doctors were in my room for almost half of the day. They were making sure that nothing went wrong while they were in another part of the building. But, later they said they were leaving because I was healing quite well for someone in my condition. They were always giving me medicine and making sure my blood pressure was intact. The next day I was up and walking around the hospital and trying to walk up and down the stairs but the surgeon and doctors told me not to. That night I had to get up and go down to the section of the hospital where they take x rays and where all that radiation stuff is.
On the last day I was to stay there I was doing all sorts of stuff. I was down in the lobby then I would walk up to my room then walk around outside. That night I had to get another Xray then go to another room to get a Xray inside of my chest bone. That was about 12am at night so when they woke me up I almost lost it because i couldn't sleep because I felt weird and that was like the only night when I was getting good sleep so of course i am going to go crazy if they wake me up. The next day I was leaving they took another Xray and gave me some more medicine. Then my surgeon was telling me all the do and don'ts while I'm gone and I'm at home. After that they took a picture of my chest bone to see what it looked like and what its condition was. After that the nurses wheeled me out on a wheel chair to my parents car and I was off. During all those days I learned that getting better is better than staying worse.

I wrote this because when I had heart surgery it was a scary but fun experience and I think people would enjoy reading about it.
