It was late at night with the wind howling and moon shining. The rain drizzled down the window with each droplet making a distinctive plop. It was so close to Christmas Blake and we could almost wrap our hands around it. We had been creating a Christmas celebration for our Minecraft faction. Tonight, on December 22nd, everything we had been preparing for would be vanquished by 10:00, but nobody could have seen what was about to happen.

It started off as any other night would’ve gone. We face timed each other and started setting up our Christmas celebration. The latest update added fireworks which we used to our advantage in our display. We had an underground base filled with our greatest creations. With the help of our other faction members, we had created well over a hundred fireworks to show off on our grounds.

Then it happened. I started hearing gurgling noises from behind Blake’s camera and I immediately thought he was throwing up. “Umm… Blake are you okay,” I questioned with fear of worse things. He never replied, so I called his mom and told her to go check on him. Then I heard her call, over face time, the only phone number I didn’t want to hear. 9-1-1.

Each thump of my heart felt like minutes as the sirens blazed past our house. I told my parents about the crisis and they suspected that Blake had a seizure. They told me that seizures are usually non-lethal which helped calm my nerves. For the next hour all I could think about was Blake. Then it occurred to me that I had actually saved someone’s life. That someone just happened to be my best friend. I never would have thought that something this critical would every happen to Blake. When someone’s life is threatened by the forces of evil, it can bring out the best and the worst parts of you.
