They sat, while seemingly unharmed by the insane world spiraling around them. The sun illuminated the soft crevices that intersected in harmony as they met the beginning of the stem. The partial shadow cast overhead by the giant, staple, Oak Tree, protected the crisp petals to insure that they stay well hydrated. The bush surrounding each flower also stood to protect from any unwanted intruders. The sprightly birds gracefully made their way around the serene park, the bees enjoyed the sweet nectar the delicate flower promised, and the squirrels wreaked havoc on the lonesome acorns finding themselves trapped in the plush grass. However, they gently sat, resilient in their peace, the light breeze keeping the slightest bit of motion in place. Trouble swirled in every breath of wind, and the clouding skies above meant perilous rain was imminent. Yet, they gently sat, resilient in their peace. They seemed oblivious to the fact that the feeblest drop of rain could wrinkle their freshly preserved white petals. As I stared across the park at these robust flowers before me, I saw a moment of true revelation. Though life may turn around us at a pace with which we can’t keep up, we must stand as if not even the slightest drop of chaos could wrinkle our freshly preserved lives.

This piece was inspired by a picture of flowers that I once saw. I was intrigued by the beauty and delicateness that they provoked.
