Having a Bestie is the Best
We all have friends, and some of us even have best friends. We might feel alone sometimes, but everyone has had a companion at some point in his or her life. Aside from how many or how little friends we have, a few of us have someone closer than a friend. Not like a boyfriend or a spouse, but a type of friend that you’d be lost without, the kind of friend who knows you like the back of her hand, and the one who could never possibly let you down. I am lucky enough to have one of these friends, and she is what I like to call my bestie.
Some people may think, isn’t “bestie” just slang for best friend? Not according to me. My bestie is much more than a best friend to me. We know each other inside and out, we are hardly ever apart, and most importantly, we know that we can always count on each other. I have other friends and a couple of best friends, but my bestie is someone that I can share everything with because I know I can trust her with any of my secrets. Other friends can get annoying sometimes, but my bestie and I have an inseparable bond. People who have never experienced the love of a bestie are not able to understand just how close we are.
What makes my bestie stand out from the rest of my friends is her incredible skill of cheering me up. I tend to get a little crabby—okay, I am crabby a lot. But I know that if I ever need someone to show me the brightside or make me laugh, I can turn to her. She has an extremely hilarious sense of humor, and she always knows exactly what to say. I also know that I can count on her for an honest opinion. If I am unsure about any decisions, she always provides me with her straightforward advice. There is no such thing as beating around the bush when it comes to a bestie.
Not only have I made the best high school memories with my bestie, but she has also taught me to be a better person. When I started hanging out with her, I became more outgoing and a lot less shy. This has helped me tremendously, because now I am never afraid to say what is on my mind. She taught me how to make my own fun and make the best of every situation. Our attitudes rub off on each other, and I am grateful that I have someone that has helped me change for the better.
Friends are great to have, and best friends are even better, but having a bestie is the best because I know that I will always have her to fall back on. Friends come and go, best friends might stick around for a while longer, but a bestie is forever.
