Daddy
My Knight in shining armor
with arms made out of steel
He held me in those strong arms
My feet on top of his
The music, our soundtrack
The world, ours for the taking
I would stand on your feet
You would guide me
We danced the night away
My eyes twinkling
Your eyes shining with tears
Daddy's Little girl was growing up
Daddy let's dance i said
The music, our never-ending saviour
The clock would strike
You'd pick me up and twirl me
A kiss on the cheek
And you'd send me off to bed
The melody still playing in my head
No more father-daughter dances
Because you weren't daddy no more
Not the daddy that smiled and laughed
Not the daddy that danced
So I think back
To when there were dances
To when there were kisses
To when the world was ours
To when the record was playing
But there's no more father-daughter dances
Cause I'm not a daddy's girl
The clock's struck 12
And you're not here anymore
I'm all alone
On the dance floor
