Fleeting
A moment of pure bliss. As the fleeting sun fell past the earth, Only heavenly rays pearing from behind the shadowed clouds. In the distance across the half sun struck water there stood a group of deer grazing upon a hill top. Dancing around in a blanket of darkness.
There I felt a sense of perfection staring into the heart of that pond. The sun's beams cut through the dark shallow water. I inspected those rays for some time. Tracing its glow up and down the pond until my eyes were fastened onto that flag.
At that moment I knew all my worry was relinquished. Holding that sensation I looked down upon that white ball with a sense of utter conviction. With no practice swing I took the club back pausing at the top. from that moment I felt gravity pulling my hands back to the earth. I watched as the club swept the ball up, ascending to the sky.
The ball soared through the sky, vanishing, engulfed in thick darkness from heavenly clouds above. At that moment it felt as if my heart had skipped a beat. It felt as if my ball was lost to the clouds never to return. I scanned the overcast endlessly only seeing the faintest ball shaped shadow.
But then my ball peaked from the shadows of the clouds landing perfectly in the hole. A delayed CLANK echoed through the air stinging my ears. Once more it had felt as if my heart had stopped for a moment. My mouth dropped with disbelief following a raging beat in my chest echoing throughout my body.
Once more I looked back to that pond. A cloud drifted past the sun removing the blanket of darkness across the earth. I watched as those beams that had once streaked the pond had expanded to a steady glow animating the sky at which I could see in its reflection.

This piece was written about my only whole in one I had gotten in Florida. It was a nice day out until we got the the 16th hole when a storm rolled through so it got very dark. right after I hit it started to clear up again.
