What the United States Flag Stands for

To me the United States flag stands for the freedom that we have in our country. The thirteen stripes represent the thirteen colonies. This is when our freedom started. It shows that we wanted to be independent and wanted to have the freedom to do whatever we wanted to do. The 50 stars represent each state of the country. It honors each state’s freedom and independence.

It also means to honor the ones who have served our country or who are currently serving right now. They are the ones who have put their lives on the line for the good of our country, protecting us from anything that could hurt us.

Throughout my life, I was always taught and told to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance or during the national anthem, and I still honor that. Personally, I am patriotic and have an American Flag in my room that I look at every single day and think about how thankful I am to be able to live in this country and not have to worry about something bad happening to me.
