Hopefully i don't get caught

One day me, my mom, and cousin Perla went to walmart. I had no intention of stealing . what still happened though i don't know let's find out. We walked into walmart.

¨ i'll call you guys when i'm checking out the food so you know when it's time to go.¨ my mom said 

¨ alright maa¨ i said 

Me and Perla split up from my mom. We went straight to the mens section to get my cargo. 

¨ last one there gets slapped¨ i said 

We start running so fast. Each of us pushes each other so the other one gets their last. 

¨ hey stop running in the store¨ the employe says 

¨my bad¨ I said

We start laughing in silence as if we didn't just get in trouble. We get my black cargos  pants and then head straight to the snacks.

¨what should we get and don't say those nasty cookies you always get” i said 

¨ what are you talking about oatmeal cookies are the best¨ she said 

¨ noo let's get chocolate chip cookies instead¨ i said 

¨alright bet and some some munchies, m&ms, and sour worms¨ she said 

¨yessir you already know¨ i said 

While where getting the snacks my mom calls us

¨im paying for the food already so hurry up before i leave you guys¨ she said 

¨alright where going right now to pay¨ i said 

Ẃe start running before there's long lines. The only line that will go faster are the self checkout lines so we wait in that line. When it's our turn we hurry up and start paying. I scan the snacks first. We check  out the snacks by themself and it was $15 but the cargos  where 25. I pretended that i scanned them and i put them in the bag the camera usually makes a noise when you don't scan but it didn't make one. So I only payed for the snacks. 

¨ what are you doing your gonna get caught¨ perla said 

¨can you shut up you're the one that's gonna get us caught if you're any louder¨. I said 

¨okay but if you get caught that's on you i already told you so¨ she said 

¨okay shut up¨ i said 

After we're done checking out the snacks we put all of them in the bag and put the cargos in the bottom. When we leave the guy that works at the self check out waves at us smiling

¨have a good day¨ he said 

We wave back nervously smiling 

¨you too¨ i said 

We headed to go meet my mom outside because she was waiting for us in the car. We go to the exit where the person checks our receipt. I hand my recept to her.

I thought ¨hopefully i don't get caught¨ 

She just looks up at me and smiles

¨have a good day¨ she said 

I thought ¨that was a close one¨

Little did I know that wasn't the end. We got into the car and my mom asked us if we had any change left.

¨ no¨ i said 

¨how is that possible i gave you guys $30¨ she said 

¨we spent it all¨ i said 

She snatches the bag and the recipet

I thought ¨this is it my life is over¨ 

She reads the receipt to me staring innocently as if I didn't just steal some cargos and get away with it. I try to read her face of confusion. Trying to think if she figured it out or not. She finally opens her mouth

¨how come the cargos aren't on here¨ she said 

¨i did maybe it didn't scan right¨ i said 

She checks again. I look back at my cousin through the car mirror seeing her nervous face. 

¨no you didnt get them did you? Or else you would've told me. Dont lie to me ADAY BARRON¨

I thought¨ this ones gonna be tuff one she said my whole government name too¨

¨yes i did steal them i'm sorry mom¨ i said 

I saw the disappointment on her face and a little anger. She took a deep breath before saying 

¨ why are you stealing you that is why i gave you money so you don't have steal and if you needed more you could've just asked me. Stealing is bad. I didn't work everyday to provide a good life for you and your sibling for you to just be stealing. I don't want you to grow up doing that. That's why I try to provide enough for you and your siblings so you don't have to be doing these things. I dont wanna find out  again that you're doing this. I want you to go leave those cargos where you found them NOWWW!”she said 

My mom asked my cousin

¨ did you know that she stole them¨ my mom said 

My cousin trying to act as if she didn't know 

¨i didn't even know when she put the cargos in bag for real¨ perla said 

I go back and leave them where I found them. I get into the car. The car ride home  was silent. I thought about the decisions I made that day in the car. I didn't want to disappoint my mom. When I saw that look on her face. I was regretting everything. I should have thought about it first. What she said was true. She gives me everything I ask for even when she can't, it will always be enough. I didn't really think about that. So everything I did I thought about it twice. This was my favorite mistake i made
