The Cat Police
If anyone knows me, they know that I am not very fond of my cat. My cat, Vader, is a black cat, with big green eyes, and a kinked tail. My parents got Vader for my brother and me when I was about four years old and I don’t think it was the best decision for them to get us a cat when we were that young. When I was about five years old, I started exploring with my cat more. I would bug Vader everyday by dressing him up in my frilly doll clothes, putting shiny hair clips on his head, and putting him in my pink doll carriers. So, as you can see my cat probably disliked me very much.
Day after day I would continually annoy my cat and find new ways to “play” with him. My parents started to notice what I was doing should not be happening to my poor cat. They would give me many warnings telling me that I should stop annoying Vader. I would not listen and would still continue bothering my cat.
Finally, my parents were getting fed up with me and they knew they had to do something to make me stop aggravating my cat. So, they called PetSmart and told them what was happening, they asked a PetSmart employee to act like the “cat police”. Now, when you are five you believe almost everything, and I certainly believed in the “cat police”. My mom, dad, brother, and I all walked into the big PetSmart building with me thinking we were just going to get some boring cat food but, I was wrong. My parents took me over to the PetSmart employee and I was very confused. At first, I thought we were just going to ask a question of what type of cat food would be best for Vader, but I was way off. They explained to me that this was the “cat police” and he was going to talk to me. I was shocked and terrified. The tall “cat police” looked at me and I instantly started crying. Streams of tears came down my little face as I started thinking about spending time in jail!
“From what your parents have told me, it seems that you are bugging your cat a lot,” said the “cat police”.
I just nodded still in shock from what was happening to me right now.
“Now,” the cat police carried on, “If you don’t stop irritating your cat I am going to have to take him away from you and your family.”
I nodded my head again, still afraid of what was going to happen to me. Then, I quickly told him I would never do anything to irritate my cat ever again, cutting him off from telling me anything else. Still crying, I raced back to the car as fast as I could. My parents came to the car and they talked to me and asked if I understood everything the “cat police” was telling me. All I could do was sit in utter embarrassment. I couldn’t believe what just happened to me. I felt like an awful person and knew what I did was wrong. From then on, I have never annoyed my cat or made him play dress up with me.
The lesson I learned from this situation with my cat is that you should always be kind and gentle with your animals and that you should listen to your parents. When I look back at my mistakes, I see that I should have obeyed and respected my parents and then none of this would have happened in the first place.
