Church ( Morality)

I used to think that going to church makes you a better or a good person. I feel like most of the society expects us to go to church to be a “good” person.

But then, this summer vacation 2019, my sisters and I went to Jalisco, Mexico on vacation. My parents could not go to Mexico for personal reasons and also because my father was working. I was sad because my parents couldn’t go with us but at the same time I was happy because I was going to be in Mexico a little over two months. One day while we were in Mexico. I remember we were in my grandma’s kitchen eating and talking with my grandma about life, it was like 3:00pm and it was a nice and sunny day.  But, suddenly that sunny day turned into a dark day when we received a call from my mother telling us that my father had an accident while going to work and that the car was destroyed, She also told us that my dad was in the hospital, but that was all the information she had. At that moment I felt as if a bucket of cold water fell on my head. My dad is a very good and humble person and I didn't know why this happened to him being the person he is. My sisters and I began to cry and ask and pray to God to take care of my dad because we really couldn't do anything because we were in Mexico. I remember my grandma was telling us, “Don’t worry my girls, everything is going to be ok, we know that your dad is very strong.” I knew my grandma was also worry but she just trying to calm us down. We waited for news for about 3 hours on the room in front of my grandma’s kitchen, we were really nervous and anxious. Then like at 6:30pm that day my mom call us. Thank God, nothing bad happened to my dad and he was able to go home. The days he was recovering at home some relatives helped him financially because my dad lost his car in this accident. Which, at that moment I really didn't care about the car because they are just material things. This month, my dad received money from the insurance of the other car that hit my dad, and my dad was able to pay those who helped him when he had the crash.

So, Now I think that one does not really need to go to the church to be a good person or to look good in society. As long as you sincerely believe in God and pray every day, respect, and have humility, that is what makes you a good person and that is when God rewards you in the perfect moment. Because I have seen cases of people who go to Mass every day but outside the church they are a garbage of people. They don't respect, they don't have humility or generosity, and they spend criticizing and judging the lives of others.

This is about morality and how we are supposed to be in order to fit in in society.
