The Realization

I would like to talk about my experience traveling to Colombia . I did not just meet different people but I got to be involved with another Region other than the United States .

I saw things over there that made me realize to appreciate everything that I own because not everyone is privileged . There were so many families on the street looking for a way to live by selling candy or making food to make money but not a lot actually get profit which is really sad in my opinion because some of the children dream about having a normal life like having a roof over their head , a warm plate of food not scraps that are given by those who feel pity or feel bad for them .

Another thing that really bothered me was that in the schools they won’t provide any food for the kids and I understand that the country has many economics problems but maybe if the government would not be so corrupt and think a little about their people but I wish I could help somehow , but when I had money i gave out to those in need . This experience made me think more about how in the USA not everyone takes the advantage of having a free education , free food , and a roof over their head people just complain and want unnecessary items without knowing the struggles and how hard that others must go through in order to thrive in life .

I found out that jobs in Colombia do not pay their employees per hour they gets paid for their day and the salary is not enough for all the bills and their personal items which is unfair because they work a 16 or more hour shift to only get ten dollars but nobody is able to work until they are eighteen years old and for those who work and go to school really have a hard time because there are no part time jobs you must work full time for the low wage .

I am so thankful for going to a different country and getting to know different life situations but although they work really hard I was conscious of how no matter how poor or economically unstable you are there is no reason for you to not be happy I seen how people still managed to keep a smile on their face and kept their family motivated and love is never lost through the difficulties .

Going to Colombia taught me that what I have rightnow is everything I could really ask for I have a free education , an opportunity to become someone someday , a shelter I can call “home” , and most importantly I have my family what do I get from having money and luxuries but be miserable ? nothing . Therefore I feel like everyone should cherish their life and not the materialistic because one day no matter what economic status you are , we are all going to be six ft underground Once again I am thamkful I got to see more situations that matured me in a way and I've learned to appreciate .
