Mental Awareness
Depression meddles in all living matter. It develops when sadness is taken to the extent due to stress or neglection. Sometimes it happens out of the blue, grabbing you by the throat and drag you until you can’t take anymore. Depression can you lead you to do the unthinkable, for example it may lead to self-harm and in very deep cases, possibly you may want to take your own life. Maybe you might take another’s life or harm another's because if you’ve seen someone in this mental state, you never know what their thinking. That’s what we’re breaking down. Gradually, I would like to share to you what we may be able to do to develop an understanding for depression and perhaps you may be able to help someone you may know as well.
The problem varies with every person. Some cases are similar, and some are irregular to others. “Depression thrives on cynical or ‘bored’ attitudes to life, generating a sense of meaningless” (studentsagainstdepression) which associates with ‘state of mind’. People tend to lead to boredom when they don’t have train of thought. Once people don’t have anything to attend to, they think of the glass half empty. What they’ve accomplished also accompanies what they don’t accomplish. Feelings of regret, self- doubt and cases of lowering one’s own self-esteem lead to mental breakdowns. Mental breakdowns are a mental disorder with symptoms of depression, anxiety, paranoia and disassociation in a previously functioning individual. Helping individuals stay on track with what they want to improve is more progressive then leaving them in a dark state of mind, whether it be financially, purposely, or perhaps even education wise but having a break to relieve stress helps the individual mentally. Activities such as power naps, exercise, music and eating a healthy diet helps students relieve stress.
Not only do students experience gloom but all humans do. We eat, sleep, work, and have social lives to the point of where the thief of our happiness can rob you at any point of time. What we’ve been told previously repeatedly is “Think optimistically, not everything is going to be sunshine and rainbows but always turn to the bright end”. I speak for friends and family of age levels higher or lower than me. I speak for the group of teachers, counselors, adults with a verified check mark next to their name who don’t even qualify for giving advice. For them to shove their small-minded opinion down my throat to swallow with not of the slightly grasp of the topic. According to mentalhealth “It is estimated that up to 15% of adult population will experience depression at some point in their lifetime”, if you are an adult and you choose to nonchalantly throw that “advice” at me, I politely decline. I rather search for that adult who’s going through the same thing as me and ask them to help boost me up from that position. Talking to an individual whom experienced the same or even remotely like you helps. It helps with the weight on your shoulder. For I am another human being with a problem that I know I’m struggling with.

I've been struggling with something that I know others have as well. It's not a open conversation where I stay and the day I do talk about it, I was told to share. So here's some of my thought process on my situation.
